About "Rays of Light on the Beach"

I began this watercolour overlooking Saunton Sands, confident that I could finish it in time to avoid the fast approaching rain cloud. I quickly realised that this was an ambitious task, as the ominous cloud unleashed above me, drenching my dog Pollock and I, and throwing miles of landscape into damp darkness. Pollock wanted to turn back, but I was determined to finish! If you look closely at the painting, you can see where the rain hit the page, creating wonderful incidental spots on the grass in the foreground.
