About "Southbank Shadows"

The Southbank is one of my favourite places to visit in London. You never know what you might come across as you stroll along the dynamic riverside walkway, but you are always guaranteed a great view of the Thames and the city. I used very light washes of paint in this piece, to let the white of the paper shine through, as the city was flooded with light on this day. The strong light created dark shadows, which I painted using a stick dipped into rich black ink.
