About "Venice Moonset"
The moon setting over the romantic Italian city of Venice, with the domes of the Basilica di San Marco standing in the distance. Depicting a moment of quiet in this bustling liquid through-fair, marble buildings reflect on the calm canal water. Watercolour paint and a small amount of body colour are used in conjunction to reproduce the gentle gradients, as well as depth in colour, of the moonlit sky. I left a small circle of the white paper unpainted to form the luminous moon, highlighting that sometimes what you do not paint is just as important, as what you do paint.
