About "In the Shade"
On the way to the alps for a few days of painting, I stopped off at a small stream running by a vineyard. On this bright August day, the light poured onto the tree, which reflected clearly onto the calmly moving water. This piece was painted using gouache, with only a little bit of water, to allow for a more textured surface and graduated paint marks.
