About "Café de Paris"

I love painting city scenes after rainfall, as when the sun illuminates the wet pavements the colours often appear more vibrant and vivid. On this Parisian street, streams of light emanate an inviting warmth from the shelter of the cafes. Cafes have long been the heart of social life in Paris, and a source of inspiration for many artists throughout history. I visit as many as I can whenever I am in Paris, to soak up the atmosphere and to observe people deep in conversation around me, bringing me closer to what great painters of cafe scenes such as Edouard Manet may have experienced in the 19th Century.
