About "Lily Pond"

Taking inspiration from Monet's 'Water Lilies' series, I painted this lily pond scene, using thick oil paint to give a sense of depth and three-dimensionality. I have always been fascinated by the ability of water to reflect light and the ever-changing conditions of nature. Here, reflected in the pond water you can see hints of clouds and blue skies above, and the earthy tones of surrounding trees and foliage. The little fish swam nonchalantly through the water at exactly the right time to complete the composition perfectly.
