About "Moving Forwards"
The light was fantastic when I took this picture, as the sun was casting a bouncing yellow light across the city, making the dramatic shadows cast appear a striking purple hue. I always look for the colour within shadows, as no shadow is ever completely black. I was drawn to the stillness of the puddle in the foreground which gave an almost mirrored effect, just catching the man as he strode briskly across the busy New York street. I painted with a variety of brushes and marks to reflect the many textures of the city's surfaces.
