About "Great Grandfather's Lamp"
This was my Great Grandfather's lamp from the Gresford Colliery coal mine. This lamp is particularly special to me because my great grandfather survived an explosion in the mines in 1934, which killed 266 of his fellow miners. As an object of personal resonance, I wanted to capture more of a sense of the lamp's aura, focussing on the soft warm light and subtle metallic sheen of the brass and copper, rather than getting caught up with fiddly details.
