About "Pier Remains"

Whenever I am in Brighton, I am drawn to the desolate beauty of the West Pier, which became derelict after a series of fires and years of neglect. Its skeletal remains are now a focal point of Brighton's seafront. I painted this piece with an initial wash of watercolour, before adding the details of the eerie structure with black ink, allowing the ink to seep down the page to leave a ghostly shadow.
