About "Southbank Heat"
Using highly pigmented pastels for this piece allowed me to create a sunset which appears to radiate intense heat and light from the page. Colour is such a powerful tool for emulating the unique feeling of a scene, from the physical temperature to the mood. In this view looking towards Westminster, I really enjoyed heightening the colour values to another level; interpreting the shadows with tones of purple to contrast against the warm light.
